CfD Stakeholder Bulletin — 12 November 2024

DESNZ·policy·medium·12 Nov 2024·source document

Summary

DESNZ launches the CfD Clean Industry Bonus, which provides additional revenue support to fixed and floating offshore wind projects that invest in more sustainable supply chains. The mechanism operates as an add-on to existing CfD payments, with details available on a dedicated microsite.

Why it matters

This creates a subsidy layer on top of CfD subsidies, rewarding offshore wind developers for supply chain choices rather than pricing carbon or local content directly. The bonus socialises the cost of industrial policy through electricity bills while requiring developers to navigate additional administrative criteria.

Key facts

  • Applies to fixed and floating offshore wind
  • Additional revenue support on top of CfD payments
  • Linked to sustainable supply chain investment
